Glass Tape
« on: May 27, 2010, 08:24:20 PM »
Found some 20 foot rolls of glass tape and wondering what size is most correct. 1/16" thick, 1/32" thick or another thickness. Thanks

It looks like the door frame glass (track part) would be the thicker 1/16" and the stainless trim pieces would be the thinner 5/64"? Would this be correct? Thanks

Thank Charles... have a few more glass questions, guess I could start new topic but anyway.... my door glass looks... well 42 years old. I even have some scratches where who knows what happened.... does anybody have their glass polished out or is this even an option? Looks like a sand layer encrusted on the edge of where the glass tape ends, this doesn't come off. Wondering what to do if anything. Thanks

There's a local business that can buff.  I've had good results, but it's not cheap.  Dolci at 919-495-1415.  You'll most likely need to meet her somewhere to give her the glass.

I might just use something from the store or local glass place. If I still had my original windshield I might get it all polished.

Is there an easy way to get the old black sealer off the windshield and back glass around the edges?

I would try a razor blade and paint thinner.
