65 SJ Rear Brake Cylinder
« on: February 21, 2010, 09:32:48 PM »
Pulled my brake cylinders out today and they appear to be partially red. Were these painted or dyed in the factory or why would they be colored?

Can't make out , from your picture, what part of the cyl is red. If its just the section that would be visible once installed I've seen plenty painted (normally along with the backing plate) all sorts of colors.

The wheel cylinders often received a paint mark but it was on the drum side and fairly small (brush or daub)

Jeff:

The backing plates were black and never appeared to be painted another color. The cylinder seems to be red on about 50% of the piece. There were also to white paint daubs on the cyclinder
