1967 Parking Light/Headlight Question
« on: April 28, 2020, 02:59:34 PM »
I am still working on the plethora of electrical issues that I have. A new question as I work through stuff. My running lights seem to work fine. Back and front headlights. But, when my park lights are on, ie my headlight knob is only pulled out halfway, I get the right green turn signal arrow on dash lit up. Doesn't flash, just lights up. Replace headlight switch? Separate issue, I am still looking for flasher cans. Turn signal not behind defroster controls like it's supposed to be. Emergency flasher not behind ash tray like it's supposed to be. There is a can mounted behind ash tray on firewall, but no wires attached to it. I am guessing cans were moved behind instrument panel for some reason. I do have some form of flashers, so cans must be somewhere. Thanks.

Should/may be able to hear the flasher unit cycle. That would at least let you narrow down where it is under the dash. If you get your hand up in the area and touch it you should be able to then feel the cycle and in turn locate it. Other choice is chase the loom then the correctly colored wires to the plug.  Just some basics that may provided results.

a bad ground on the RF park/turn lamp.
Maybe causing feedback and your other issue!

I may have an answer to some of my problems in right front turn signal socket. I put a jump box on left front turn signal at the connector and got my "pointy" light to work on a power pin and the ground pin. On the right side nothing. So something going on in socket on right. I'll try new bulb, clean contacts etc, then change socket if I have to and see what changes occur. Front amber signal lights i see were painted 40 years ago and then scraped. Broke bulb trying to get out. Soaking in WD40 now for needle nose pliers tomorrow.

ps. Thanks Jeff. Unfortunately, I hear no clicking so where ever the flashers are hidden, they must already be electronic. Maybe problem is really right front socket. Fingers crossed.

If that doesn't do it, with all of the problems you are having, I would recommend unplugging all lights including license plate and backup.  Then plug in one at a time and test.  Fix problems before moving on.

I came up from downstairs and was just about to ask that. I didn't think about it today but did downstairs. If I unplug the right front turn signal assy, the rest of the lights should work "normal" if that is the problem. I did fix my horn problem today. After steering wheel wiring harness replacement didn't fix horns, I took both horns off, redid contacts and replaced a bad one.

If I have to replace the right front turn signal housing, I assume it's the same for all 1967's and it's only mounted differently on a fiberglass Shelby nose?

The housing is mounted the same way on the Shelby as it is on the Mustang.
