Did Mustang magazine ever get any better?
« on: November 06, 2013, 02:51:29 PM »
I received an email asking me to "test drive" Mustang magazine.  I remember when this magazine first came out and people were having all kinds of problems, from not receiving issues, to receiving issues late, to pre-paying for subscriptions that never came.  I like the look of the magazine, I'm just hesitant to try it if these problems haven't been resolved.  Is anyone a current subscriber?  Thoughts, opinions?  Thanks!!

I subscribed when I saw the first issue which was several years ago.    For some reason, I just received issue #19.    I never got a renewal notice.    This issue seems to be a rehash of MM and not up to par with all previous issues.    If a 'test drive' means a free issue, then nothing to lose;  give it a try and judge for yourself. :)

Hey Brett, I got the Premier issue at a car show some years back, then subscribed. Well, I got 4 issues in 12 months. I called their office and was nice until they got offensive.  A few more in our Mustang club got the same treatment. Needless to say, I didn't renew.

A 12 issue subscription will be exactly that, 12 issues. They don't claim to be a monthly mag and I have received about an average of 3 per year. It annoyed me at first but now I guess I get a little excited when a random issue shows up in my mailbox. I personally enjoyed it more in the earlier copies than more current issues. One thing I like is that it stays more focused on concours stuff and putting previously unknown stuff out there. Not necessarily unknown by everyone but more like info that the general public might not have been privy to, so to speak.

I think I might like it more then Mustang Monthly which is kinda starting to annoy me. MM is a really small mag nowadays and they usually run articles on concours type cars and then all their Tech articles involve installing cheap repop junk.

I will continue to read all of the Stang Mags, I will just continue to have a personal opinion about them. ;) Andrew

Mag, you're right about it looking better than Mustang Monthly.  I'm just tired of seeing the same old tech stories in Mustang Monthly.

I may give Mustang magazine a try, but I hate to start enjoying a new magazine, only to have to guess at when the next issue will arrive!

I beg to differ with you. I was told via phone call, from the premiere issue, that it was going to be a monthly magazine, so I subscribed and during a 12-14 month period, I received 4 issues. Well, I'm not paying $19.95 for a yearly subscription and get only a 3rd of what I paid for.

Here's proof from one of my few magazines that it was indeed suppose to be a monthly magazine.

READ closely, because it does state " monthly frequency".

I paid for twelve issues (1-12) after subscribing at the Yellow Rose, Ft Worth, TX many years ago. Then renewed for twenty four more issues and I am now up to #19. Consequently 17 issues left on my subscription.
I love the quality of the magazine and don't really care how long between issues as long as I get them.

Well, they might have at one point claimed to have monthly frequency, but the editorial a few issues back stated that they would not be a monthly magazine. I understand you would be upset if expecting to receive one every month, but your subscription will last a total of 12 issues even if it takes 3 years for you to get all of them.

They might have had great intentions when they first started the Mag, but I don't think they are supported by a large printing co. like Source Interlink or Primedia so their budgets and ability to get to print quickly probably aren't as great as they hoped it to be??

I placed the latest issue #19 on my shelf next to the previous issues, and found that the issue 19 is about an inch wider , so hopefully they  have increased the size of the magazine permanently, which I applaud to a have larger pictures/illustrations.

Yes, I was expecting to receive one every month, because,,,,,,that's what the magazine article that I included in my earlier post says.

And I still don't know what your saying about 12 issues taking 3 years.  Because, early (The key word here, EARLY) it was suppose to be a "Monthly Magazine".  After about 14 months and only receiving only 3-4 issues, That was it for me.

I don't know what their doing now and it doesn't matter to me.

I'm just sayin that the subscription is for 12 issues and since they put out about 4 issues at the most a year, then it will take approx. 3 years for the subscription to run out. They won't cut subscribers off after a year after providing just 4 issues and make them renew their subscription, they will run it out for 12 issues.

When I first subscribed I just assumed it was a monthly mag and the first couple times it took forever to get to me I was kind of annoyed but then I just got used to it. I like the quality and content of it and I'm sure I will renew my subscription when it runs out.

You are talking about a TOTALLY different time period than I am. Your talking about the magazine as of today, and I'm talking about the magazine as of "Yesteryear".....SO, we are on a totally different page.

Let's move on to something else, shall we?  Have a good day.
