64 1/2 radio face plate
« on: October 16, 2013, 09:29:31 PM »
Can anyone tell me where (or if) I can find a new replacement chrome face plate for my 4TBZ radio?  The chrome on mine is pitted and I want to replace it.

I agree that I need to replace mine but so far I have not been able to find a used one in any better condition than mine.  That's why I was hoping to find a repo some where.

NO know repo that I know off.

options are restore your original or find another face plate that is better than yours or spend big $$ and buy yourself a NOS radio kit, they are out there but be prepared to pay as the people who have these aren't letting them go cheaply. the last one I bought set me back $1000, images attached for reference

Thank you Phil  I could not pay $1000 for a NOS radio so I may never get my chrome part replaced.

Thanks CW4macret.  I have my radio out now but can't figure out how to get the chrome face off.  Do you know how to get it off?

Yes take all the nut off from the volume and channel selection shafts. Then unscrew the hex headed screws to include the ones securing the large diode in place. pull the diode out, mark an clip the wires (you will have to solder them back when you reassemble. now just pull the front off. there are 4 little tabs that hold the lens in. I used a small screw driver to hold them down and pushed the lens over them one at a time.
