Body Plugs
« on: September 12, 2013, 11:33:58 AM »
Good morning,
I have checked the assembly manuals and did a search on the forum, but did not find what I need. I am looking for a clear diagram of where and where not to place the rubber body plugs. My concern is I may add a plug, but it should be open for drainage or vis versa. Car is a May 1965 SJ GT fastback.
Thank you!

William,
The book is about the only source. It shows the "where", it would be impractical to show "where not".

Don't think there is a "clear" diagram besides allot of different angles and locations so a single diagram would be difficult or poor from the graphic perspective. Things aren't that easy - if you want them correct ;)  Work a section then move on to the next would be my recommendation

Thank you everyone!
I think I have most of it pieced together, but am a little confused on one area. Where the parking brake cable passes over the rear frame rail, there seems to be a hole on the top side of the frame rail. Does that get a plug? You have to stick your fingers in the tunnel where the parking brake cable passes through and feel on top of the frame rail.
Thank you!

A pic of that area might help.  Would it happen to be the rear seat platform turn-up?  There is usually a rubber plug on both ends, at least on convertibles.

Thank you Charles!
In the attached photo, where the parking brake cable passes though the frame rail, there is a hole. The hole is in the top horizontal surface of the frame rail. You can feel the hole only if you stick your fingers in where the cable goes through.  I did notice there is a plug in the bottom of the frame rail, so I think the top need one also?
Thank you!

Believe that is a body buck hole and one of the four that does not pass through into the interior
