San Jose or other ?
« on: April 19, 2013, 12:14:34 AM »
I am restoring my 67 GT 500 #00185 and have order a copy of the build sheet from Ford 4-6 weeks. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if my car was built in San Jose or somewhere else.  Or tell me where to look up the information. Thank You Rick

Your car was built at San Jose .... that would be confirmed by the Ford VIN under the passenger fender and under the Shelby id tag in the engine compartment. Ford is not sending you a buildsheet (they don't have copies of those) but more likely you sent them your Ford VIN (rather than Shelby one) and they are sending you a simple break down on that vin hopefully with out any mistakes. It should look like 7R02xxxxxxx

The first letter "R" indicates the assembly plant which in your case is Milpitas CA or more often referred to as San Jose ;)

Important information will be when it was completed at Ford.

From the Shelby  Registry (SAAC product you should purchase) your car was originally completed at Shelby on 1/4/67 and shipped to Miami, Fl

Some warranty work was done at the dealership and first sold to a guy out of Lake Worth Fla (name and other owners listed in registry)

I suggest you  contact Dave Mathews (67 Shelby reg person) to get the full history and  and reported information on the car. I've PM you his email address

Best of luck with the car.

(Please disregard my first post ..... looked at #186 rather than your car :(  Easy to do in the big book

You'll want to check this site out shown below also....Plenty of good information and people over there also

Looks like you contacted SAAC in the past since  your still listed as the last known owner.......we've seen allot of cars change hands over the last 5 or so years.

Suggest you get a Marti report for your car - IMHO great thing to have with the care.
