Fuel Pump Date Code
« on: August 24, 2013, 10:15:58 PM »
Was looking at the Ford MPC for a 1966 Mustang fuel pump repair kit and it gives a part number for Fuel Pumps with date codes AE thru FE. Can someone tell me what the date code AE thru FE deciphers too. Is it January 5th week thru June 5th week?
Thanks,
Dave

The date code on my 65 Carter 3911S pump is 6E5A, if that helps.

Thanks mjd 65, but not sure if its the same, my pump has a stamping of 40290AE. The MPC says those fuel pumps stamped  "0290" with a date code of AE thru FE. Any other of you members of the Concour's community have any thoughts.
Thanks,
Dave

Hey Bob,
Was for identifying application. The question came up during the rebuild of my 66 vert w/6cylinder and it also came up at the Indy show on the correct fuel pump for the 1966 200 6 cylinder. I have been trying to collect data from originals. The question is "Carter stamped 4092" or " other stamped 0290". The MPC says both were used but the 0290 was replaced by the 4092. I was hoping to attribute this to a date range. I have one example stamped 40290AE not sure which plant. I have 2 other people who have original 0290 fuel pumps. One a Nov. 65 Dearborn and another a Feb. 66 San Jose. That why I was trying to decipher date code. Put picture below of fuel pumps.
Thanks,
Dave

You might check with Fred Ballard (fredsclassics@hotmail.com).  I just sent my 65 pump to him for a rebuild.  I think he is the only person in the country rebuilding the crimped on style Carter pumps.
