Flex Fans

I have a C9U-AB that was on my 68 2V 289 with air. I am not sure what engine it is for but does not fit in the 68 shroud. I think the fan should be a C8SE-B. Marty

I believe you need C8SZ-8600-B for '68 289, 302 w/ a/c.  This is a 5 blade fan w/ a 17.5 in diameter.  I'm not seeing a C9U-AB.  I see C9D, C9Z, C9O, C9W.  But I think the C8SZ-B is what you want.

The C8SE-A fans are for '69/'70 351's and are 4 blade fans w/ a 17-9/16 diameter.  Don't see a C8SE-B.

Hey Marty,

My J-code (with A/C) still has the original shroud and the fan is C8SE-B. All signs point to it being original.

Marty, checked the orginal on my 68 CS, build date of Apr 03 at San Jose.  302 with auto and AC.  Fan is marked C8SE - B. with a " CF " above the engineering number, and a date of "68 B".  I guess the "CF" indicates the vendor? and 68 B is Feb of 68?  Also a fan spacer is used with this fan, will measure the spacer if you need the length.

You guys are the best! Murf I suspect that the spacer I have is too long. It would be great to know what the correct one is. Marty

Marty, the spacer is 2 9/16 inches long  (not including the "button" on the end)  It will be easy to identify because on the end of the button that protrudes through the fan is stamped "C8ZE - A ".  The bolts are SAE thread with an overall length including the head  of 3 5/8 inches.  Unable to post images on here but if you need pictures  sent to you of any or all of these items let me know and will send them.  Happy Thanksgiving each and everyone!

Just for reference, all screw and bolt lengths are measured from under the head, but do not include any attached (read SEMS or lock) washer in determining length. Thus the bolt would be 5/16-24X3 1/4 (or 3 1/2 inch long, factory documentation for 68 engines is minimal, the source I used was the Ford Car Parts book, Sec 86 pg 12).
Jim
Also, the correct length measurement for Ford spacers includes the pilot pin (aka button).
