All S code 390 engines had chrome rocker covers. I am not sure if they were dated coded.

Agreed valve covers would be chrome. I have not located a date code on my 06/20/67, SJ build, GT
Disregard the plug wires, these were a universal set used for start up.

The mustangtek site seems to think chrome w/date stamps. The early 68 GT car I am asking about currently has chrome w/no dates. Opinions ? Brian

Would expect chrome on all S code engines installed in Mustangs until 69 when the chrome became an option
Might be overlooking the stamp (dates) or they were weak to begin with and chrome is filling them

From what I have seen, the chrome PBF valve covers were not date stamped until sometime around the beginning of the 1969 model year production run.
