direction of fan
« on: July 23, 2013, 09:36:27 AM »
I recently purchased a 66 mustang, san Jose built, 289 and am having overheating problems.  I have replaced the radiator, all hoses, thermostat, etc.  I noticed the fan may be installed backwards.  does any one have a picture of the 6 bladed fan installed on their vehicle?  I am wanting to know if the rivets are facing out towards the radiator or is the side with the reinforcement and rivets facing forward.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you...

The rivets would typically install from the front and the radiator installed with the front/top of the rivets closest to the radiator.  The back of the rivets would be on the water-pump side.  Should be able to look at the curve of the blades to figure it out, especially on a 6 blade.
