« on: February 06, 2014, 09:38:44 AM »
Someone give me their take on correct early 65 Dearborn hood hinge color as I've seen them painted black and some say natural color and some say Phosphate and oil?

What do you mean by "early '65"? Probably would be helpful if you put your build date in your profile since so many change-overs are date specific. The early, deemed '64.5 models, hood hinges were painted black. The 1965 models were phosphate & oil. I don't know if the change-over was made in August, 1964 with the model year change or not.

Have seen black hood hinges on cars built into Sept/Oct of '64.  Another one of those transition items... not really a "64.5" only feature.

Definitely should have black hood hinges then.

Black hood hinges here (of course being a July 28th '64 build date).

Not trying to hijack the thread but it is somewhat related - are the trunk hinges also supposed to be black or body color?  Mine are painted black (but was repainted over 20 years ago and the PO could've done that).

Trunk hinges should be body color.  Be sure to start a new thread that are different than the topic... makes it easier for folks to see and get answers.  Also helps when searching old posts.
