Hood Pin Install Completed
« on: July 15, 2013, 06:19:51 PM »
Based on everyone's advice from my previous posts, I installed my hood pins last weekend. I attached some pictures of how they came out. I was trying to go as concours as possible without buying an NOS set.

Take a look and let me know what you think. I could use the feedback. Thanks.

Looks good.  The hood pin hardware is not chrome, is that what you put on there?  And the hood pin lanyard hardware to the radiator support should also not be chrome.

PS.  Looks like the wrong screws for your washer bottle.

Marcus,

Thanks for the feedback. The hood pin hardware I used came from the Ford Racing hood pin set and yes, they are chrome. What type of finish should the attaching hardware be?  I took a look at the post you put up on my previous thread and they look to be almost galvanized. I didn't notice that at the time. Also, should the lanyard hardware be the same finish and be secured with a hex head screw instead of the philips head I used?

Thanks for the feedback on the washer bottle hardware. Will be ordering the correct set this week.

I think the previous info also noted that the washer used with the hood pin nuts is sort of thick (thicker than yours).  I am hoping someone will comment as to the specific correct finish for the lanyard screw/washer at the rad support.  Zinc screw with phosphate washer?

You did a nice job here!

Oops!  Maybe the other way around on the lanyard fastener?

I think Jim's picture represents very well as to the finishes.  The hood pin hardware to me is a zinc finish and the lanyard hardware is zinc and phosphate.

Jim and Marcus, thanks for your feedback. I'll be picking up the correct zinc and phosphate hardware this weekend and re-attach everything. I'll re-post some pictures here after I make the corrections.
