rear seatback primer or color early July 64 build
« on: April 10, 2014, 09:58:01 PM »
Wimbledon white convertible- I cannot make out whether the rear seatback and window crank walls are a light grey primer, or an overspray or the white. Any thoughts appreciated.

Typically would not see much gray primer in that area, but I would not say it wasn't possible.  Gray primer was typically the sealer primer on the exterior facing panels of the car.  Have seen cars with a liberal amount of body color in that area and some that were just red-oxide.

I have a late July 1964 San Jose convertible.  The areas you asked about were Wimbledon white.  Here's a couple of pictures of the area you're talking about.  While they are after we painted I can assure we didn't change anything colorwise.

Yes.  Photos taken during process.  I did everything, but the painting.  The color was Wimbledon white when I started and now is new Wimbleton white.  I looked at it for hours grinding, sanding and resealing.  I saw no evidence of other colors or primer.
