69 Shaker Seal
« on: May 25, 2013, 12:23:19 PM »
69 Shaker Seal  C9ZF-9B624  FoMoCo.  This is the seal that was on my car when I got it.  Most of the OE seals seem to have a ' C ' after the 9B264 and all the NOS and reproduction, I've seen, seals have the extra ' C ' as well.  Opinions on my example original or not ?  Just curious .  Thanks Brian

I have an old NOS one stashed away, but it has different drain hose than the ratty assembly line piece I still have.
IIRC, replacements had a thicker walled hose than originals.
If I can find them, I'll have a look at the numbers, but it's not something that jumps out like the difference in hoses.

Ok, got around to the pics.
Both my original and replacement have the "C".
If yours is original it will have the small drain hose which trumps "C" or no "C".
The two sizes can be seen in my pic.

Thats the same one I have cept mine has the sticker wrapped around the drain hose. My original Mach 1 shaker seal had the thinner hose and didn't have a suffix letter after the engineering #. It lasted till about the mid to late 80s upon which time I bough extras and have the first replacement still on it. Ya have to keep them softened with protectant or they get brittle and crack as they get old.

OK thanks for the research and photos.  Thin hose and no ' C ' most likely assembly line piece.  The other seals with the ' C ' are ford service parts or aftermarket ?  Does the MPC make any mention of what happened to C9ZF-9B264 A and B ?  Shouldn't the service part prefix be C9ZZ ?   Brian

C9ZZ is  the part #. C9ZE is an engineering #.
