You carefully remove the original, 46-year-old front springs from your car. You spent an hour or two scrubbing them in the parts washer to remove the years of dirt, grease, and road grime. You even soak them in Evaporust for several days, and then photograph them from many different angles – noting the exact locations and colors of the original paint markings – when you finally pull them out…
You search hobby shops and craft stores looking for those "just right" shades of gold and yellow paint, and after a little more cleaning and preparation, you finally decide it’s time to try your hand at re-applying the markings…
You print out all the photos of the original markings, and few false starts, you painstakingly put the new ones in the exact same spots as the old ones – perfect!
Six months later, the moment to reinstall them on the car has finally arrived - and guess what?
The markings face towards the shock tower, and nobody will ever see them!!
Oh well, I guess I have the piece of mind in knowing that they are 100% correct…
