Topic: Another Date Code Question - Toploader

You guys were a big help with my intake date code questions but now i have another one I need help with.

I think I have found the correct 4 speed toploader for my Mustang. The seller told me the date code on the main case is A19 (January 19th) and the tailshaft date code is L8 (November 8th). So I would guess the toploader was built in January of 1969 but I'm not sure since the year is not specified on either part. The toploader has the correct RUG-AD1 tag on it which I believe indicates it's the 1969 unit I need.

Is my logic above correct and would this transmission be date code correct for my April 8th, Dearborn built Mustang? Thanks.

Hard to say with a 1969 S code Toploader. Between Mustangs and Cougars there just weren't that many built, wide or close ratio.

Post up the stamped VIN on the transmission and we can give the date a guess easier.

Thanks Scott. I checked with the seller and he said no stamped VIN is visible. He did check all the other C7OR-7A040-A tailshaft's he had and all of them were either L (November) or M (December) month codes. So, looks like this one is close enough (Jan 1969).
