Trunk light identification

I have two trunk lights, supposedly correct for a '68, but ... different...

One has a green wire with yellow stripe, red bullet connector.  No marking on wire but C8ZB-13A756-A on metal socket/mount.  The second has a slightly different socket/mount, with no stamping, but C8OB-13A756-1A FoMoCo stamping on the black wire.

Is either correct for a 68 Mustang?

the older looking one is correct for 68
San Jose built (Mid Dec 67) Non GT J code Coupe.
Wimbledon White with Parchment Bench seat,
Visibility Group, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Selectaire Conditioner, AM radio, Heavy Duty suspension, Deluxe Belts, Deluxe Wheel Covers, 3.00:1 rear.

Unique 1 of 1 car. Just like every other car...

Do both of these have the same size bullet connector and does the bullet size match the female connector on your harness?  I have run into some mismatch differences in this area on my '69.  Maybe the size changed between '68 and '69?

The only difference I've ever seen between 67-70 Mustang trunk lights is wire lead and mounting bracket. Good to know as you can find less popular ones like torino/others and switch lead/bracket if yours is not working

I know you are probably right Randy, but the bullet on this one was too big for the female pigtail in the harness.  I now stay away from ones with red boots just in case!

Every once in a while I run across a difficult male bullet, but I can look real close and find either the male or the female mate have been crimped a bit making it hard to insert.  I use a drill bit to round out the female by pounding it in, and use a crimping tool to make the male round again.  Sometimes, it is just a bitch to put together....

If you're really interested, the more common bullet connector size Ford used on its early Mustang electrical connections is 0.187in dia. (the door courtesy light switch uses a 0.156in dia.). This comes in handy if you need to add some "special" electrical devices and are not in the cut and splice mindset (make a male-female jumper with another lead crimped to either the male or female jumper connector as in a "Y" to your "special" device).
Another point of trivia, is most of the wire color codes Ford used on its wires in 1964 was used on its vehicles in 2000. That might continue into the current year, I haven't had to tear into a new car.

Stumbled across one in a 67 coupe today near the old Kelsey Hayes turned to Ford plant in Monroe MI - see pics below.  Car will be parted out.

Was this a distinct and separate option for 67, or something part of a "convenience group"?  The car has a C code/auto, interior decor (red), clock, A/C, deluxe seatbelts/warning light, upper and lower consoles.  No convenience control group though.

In 67 it was part of the Courtesy Light Group option which also included the under hood light and glove box light.
