I have about 40 NOS Ford drive belts from the 60's and early 70's (FoMoCo/Autolite/Motorcraft markings.)  I've been able to cross-reference the original markings with the Ford J-number, but this basically just identifies the width and length, which can be for multiple applications.  In other words, the J-number just lets me know that a belt "fits" a certain application.  It doesn't tell me what the original application is for the marking on the belt.

Was wondering if anyone knows of any type of reference that helps figure out the ORIGINAL application for a specific marking on a drive belt.  I understand that it is possible to have a date stamp later than the actual application in regards to service part offerings.  The Bob Mannel book helps a little bit with this, but it's only specific to 62-69 V8 small block.
