289 Automatic Speedo Cable Clip
« on: May 05, 2013, 09:22:02 PM »
I have this clip that I bought for the speedo cable

Is this the right clip for my car?
Where exactly does it go?
How is it installed?  It looks like you jam a screwdriver in to spread it apart?
Anyone have a picture of it installed?

Thanks!

Look close and you can see it in this pic.  I installed it just like you said but I could not get it to pull-up tight.  They probably had a special tool on the assembly line.

The "special" tool looks very close to a screwdriver that spreads the center of the "W" shaped locking clip down when the cable is in place and then installed into the appropriate hole. Don't use too big a hammer.

Thanks.  That helps a lot.

I just ran across this in the NPD catalog, and it says its for the speedo cable 65-66.

It looks really familiar, so I think I have or had one.  Where does it go?

That's for the fuel and brake lines located a bit further back in the picture of the undercarriage.

Ah yes.  I see it on my car now.  NPD lists that as a clip for the speedo cable  ::)

It also is correct for a 4sp speedo cable, where the cable comes up on the passenger side toe-panel.
