C8AZ-12370-A vacuum advance
« on: April 17, 2013, 11:42:31 PM »
Could someone please verify the application of a C8AZ-12370-A vacuum advance?  I'm having a hard time looking it up in the MPC and other reference material I have.  Best I can tell, it's the exact same piece as used on a 68-69 428 cobra jet except it doesn't have the HP6 stamping on it.  Pics attached...

Charles - as you know, it looks identical to the CJ part but is calibrated differently.  I believe it is 4-speed big block but not CJ.  The B12 and DD-236 are the key application numbers.  There is another that also looks just like this but marked A12.  I think it may be 4-speed small block.

Charles - more info (maybe ???).  I have a huge Autolite book that goes through 1968.  The DD-236 vacuum advance is listed for several applications, but the most common is '68 302 4-barrel w/IMCO (Mustang, Comet, Cougar).  There are a couple of others - truck w/390 and Bronco w/289.  The odd thing is that I also have a NOS DD-236 and mine is marked A12, whereas yours is marked B12.  Confusing.

BTW, the correct CJ 4-speed vacuum advance (with the HP6) is DD-239.

Thanks.  Talked to Tim O'Connor, he thinks the part is in the wrong box.  Ended up selling it to him.
