Topic: Reproduction '66 GT fender emblem

I saw another post about the transition from ceramic to plastic GT fender emblems, and thought I'd start a new thread instead of derailing that one.

Is the currently available reproduction of the '66 plastic GT fender emblem anything like the original?  I've had two GTs, and put reproduction emblems on both.  These have to be some of the cheapest, junkiest parts I've ever bought.  I felt like I was going to break the studs off the emblem just by pushing it into the holes in the fender.

Were the original Ford emblems made any better?

When I originally purchased my '66 GT in 1984 I bought a set of NOS GT badges to install. I felt the same way about the pins on them. The plastic on the faces also yellowed and began curling up around the edges of the badges after several years. Yes, these were indeed NOS Ford parts, not repops!

Were the original Ford emblems made any better?

Believe they were just depended allot on how the car was stored or not stored and the exposure over time but metal ones always looked better IMHO and lasted longer it seems. At the same time its not like we (considering our focus here) have a choice

So the originals/assembly-line pieces were actually metal instead of plastic?

If I recall correctly it was a running change likely to save money like other things such as the console light frame at the back end of the console
