Thanks for the reply Jeff. It looks like about 3-4 inches (not close to me right now). It will not go into the hole easily and seems you need to cut a section off or bend the tube to get it in place.
I read elsewhere that people state you need to drop the tranny to replace/remove this?? Others state it should NOT require such work. When we removed the tranny a few years back, it met up with bell housing bolt fine, the one that retains it, and has the original dip stick, etc.. We didn't have it in when placing the tranny back in the car (would have been just another piece in the way). Everything is bolted up and done so dropping the tranny is not likely an option. I hate to go with an aftermarket set up that mounts to the firewall, but being my son's car, he is not following at concourse level. With the work involved he will not want to remove the tranny, UGH. I am just looking to see if this can be salvaged at this point.
