Burtex Splatter would be the best choice with no cut outs for the bumper braces  IMHO

Just curious and would like to ask;  The trunk mat in my  September 19, 1968 Metuchen car is rubber backed vinyl.  The pattern is plaid, has no cut outs for the bumper braces and, in white ink, 618  R  16 stamped near the left taillight.  I'm guessing it is original to the car but of course cannot know for sure.  Brian

Can't comment - have not seen a similar trunk mat but we don't see many early NJ 69's in great shape that still have a trunk mat

Thanks for the reply.  This trunk mat came with the car and is not in great shape.  The mat does show a few things of interest; no cuts outs for braces, no mat under the spare tire, rubber backing and a subtle difference in the pattern and color from the reproductions.  It also seems that a dab/smear of glue was applied to the gas tank area prior to installation ?  Brian

What is the history on the car before you purchased?

Wonder if a past owner went down and replaced their original (just thinking out load ;) with a NOS one and all that was available was a earlier version. Or this is what was the service replacement at that point

Thanks for the picture looks alot like a 66

I have no history for this car.  The former owner is deceased.  The mat could very well be a 66 version.  I was hoping the ink stamped  618  R  16 might be recognized by a member.  Brian

69 70 service mats had part #s but assembly line not.  NEVER seen or heard of rubber plaid mat in 69-70.
