Topic: 65-66 Windshield Washer Pump Feed

I purchased what I thought was a correct windshield washer pump feed wire for my single speed washer pump. When I received it, the wire was vinyl and my original (pictured below) though damaged has a cloth protection around it. A little different grain then the asphalt wire loom but kind of the same. It has this covering all the way through the firewall to the wiper switch. Has anyone else seen this? if so does anyone know who carries a correct replacement?

Yes, I have seen the covering.  It isn't something I have paid much attention to, though.  Seems like I remember seeing it on '66 cars, mostly.  Hopefully others will weigh in with their observations.

 My 66 has the exact same covering you describe all the way through the firewall. Your only hope might be through a salvage yard since this is such an odd piece of wiring. Bill.

It's a tight woven covering if I remember right.  Not simply the asphalt covering like the gas sending unit feed.

 My covering is tight. It is just big enough for the one wire to fit inside. It is dark in color and stiff going up and across the shock tower, but where it goes in the rubber grommet at the firewall it is softer and mine has frayed a little. There are two strands of the woven material hanging loose that look just like the interior braided wire covering you would see  under the dash or on the tail light wiring harness. Hope this helps. Mine is the same it's only an 1/8" in diameter. It was cut and looks to be 1 strand of a solid copper conductor with vinyl then the cloth. When you bend it, it stays put.

Not too late to weigh in is it?    Hmmm  3 years later but hey this site contains timeless info! 

Was just looking at this area and here's what is on my 65 Dearborn car, no covering on the wire and it runs to the firewall outside of the harness. I can faintly see part numbers on the wire so I'll have to clean it up.

Does this look/sound 'correct'?
