Topic: 70 Boss 302 -What is this stamping on block

This is a pic of the stamping on my  1970 Boss 302 DOZE-C block and it is almost behind the dip stick tube. I looked at the mustang tek site, and the archives here,  but this does not seem to be a  typical date stamp.

Any thoughts what this is?

My guess would be a rebuilder's identification stamp - so they could identify the block for warranty or just tracking

Thanks.. The engine was rebuilt before, so makes complete sense. That pad make a great place to stamp things.

When you find a "rebuilder" engine (if a long block and still together)  you may fine "tracking number" on all components .   

If you open it up say a Crank would be matched to that block via a stamp or all parts will be id'd with a number.

P.S.  Some carry a pinned tag with info on the assembly also.   Always nice to see addresses without ZIPS or phone numbers without area codes on these old tags from the 40/50's
