Topic: carburettor tag decoding

Hi there,

Trying to decode Autolite/FoMoCo carburettor tags, I know the top is the model carby, and below is the date code...

Can anyone advise what the letter before the date code stands for, attached are examples of some that I've seen (with A, B and C)

Apologies if I've overlooked the obvious...

The letter before the date code is probably a work-shift code or possibly tied to a location.

Jim, are you aware how many revisions? I'm assuming A would be fine to suit a 64 1/2...

The design revision applies to that specific carburetor's part number, and I don't know how many revisions there were.

If you use Marti Auto to make a new tag, they may know more.
Gee, don't you just enjoy the s**t out of decoding "Dead Sea Scrolls"?

Fair enough.  I'll be keeping an eye out for carb tags with the same ID codes though... if I find some that don't jive, I'll let y'all know!

Knowing Ford documentation, there is a strong possibility that the first version would have a rev "A" as opposed to a blank. Depending on your carb's build date, a higher letter might be possible, but a rev "A" may have been the only version released.
