Topic: Seat belt color for 65 white w/black trim interior (D6)

Hi,

I have an Oct 64 built SJ fastback with the D6 Interior - white with black trim.  I'm adding seat belts to the front and wondering if they should be black or white.

Thanks Chris.  Sounds like since i have standard interior, I would need the chrome buckles with black belts, instead of the buckles with black "tops", which I am reading are for a Deluxe interior.

I also have a Oct 64 SJ Fastback and i have metal buckels that are colored to match the interior.  I think the chrome were used on the early 64 1/2 cars.  I'm sure someone will chime in to confirm....

Thanks Jim.  I talked to Snake Oyl today though, and they are saying a 65 deluxe has split vinyl top and standards have a solid buckle top. 

To add to "my" confusion, my Dobbs & Farr Recognition guide is showing a vinyl split top for deluxe as well, but they say the standards were of a "metal to metal configuration".  In the attached picture, they show what I assume is a deluxe on the left and a standard buckle on the right.  The one on the right looks like it may be chrome with some kind of ribbed pattern.  It's hard to tell in black & white. 

Can you or anyone else clarify?  Or maybe I have the ones in the picture backwards.....

Standard '65 seat belts were the clam-shell with plastic tops.  Deluxe were the 2-piece tops like in the picture.  The early style had the alligator-skin texture, which would be typical for 64.5 cars.  The color-coordinated 2-piece tops were the later "deluxe" style and optional.

My black standard interior, July of 65, Metuchen built GT, has the following front seat belts.  The attached images are photos of the original seat belt latches prior to any restoration.  It wasn't equipped with rear belts.
