70 disc brake lines

Was there a difference in brake lines from early (what date?) to later '70's with power disc brakes?  I ordered  a set of lines for a 70 and the lines from the master cylinder to distribution block make no sense, the bends seem to be all wrong.  The lines for the front (escpecially the RF) or rear don't make any sense either when they get to the distribution block area.  Car was built 11/20/69 @ Metuchen.  I have the distribution block with external proportioning valve, is that correct for a 70 or did all 70's have the prop. valve built into the distribution valve?  From what I've researched 68 & 69's had the external prop. valve, but I don't know about 70's.  I don't have any of the old lines to compare to.   The Osborn Chassis Assembly manual doesn't have the disc brake page and the Shop Manual doesn't have anything either.  Any pictures?  Thanks!

     This is a picture of the power disc brake distribution block on my 69 Metchen car.  As you see it is how it mounts to the fender wall.  The lines and male fittings at the far right are located as they install to the master cylinder.  Brian

That's what I have too, but is that correct for a 70?  The car was in pieces when we bought it and that's the only thing I have of the brake system.  The new lines that I have to go from the mc to the dist. block do not look anything like the ones in your picture.

     I bought a set of ' 1969 Ford Car Shop Manuals ' when I got my car and they have been a great resource when working on my car.  The shop manual has a great section complete with pictures of the brake setup on my car.  Now that a picture of a OE 69 Distribution block has been posted perhaps a 70's owner can compare and give you an answer.  The problem may lay elsewhere; do you have the correct booster and master cylinder, disc brakes or drum ?  Brian

This picture intrigues me for some reason...I believe it is because I am unfamiliar with the four pin plug near the firewall junction for a 1970 headlight harness...none of my headlight harnesses have that plug.

It's not. Ford switched to a brass combination valve that included both proportioning and pressure differential functions for the 1970 model year. I have pictures of the valve here:

Thanks for the pics & the link!  I'm off to find the correct valve.  I even found a page from the Ford parts manual that says 69/70 Mustang Disc & Drum Brake System and it only shows the '69 valve, Ford must have dropped the ball on this one too.

Not unusual IMHO Ford often reused drawings rather than making new ones from year to year. Seems the drawings and pictures were just "representations" in the parts manuals or service manuals. Remember allot of time it was not about restoring the car just getting things to work - whole different focus ;)
