Topic: Tightening Up Sloppy Auto. Shifter--Which Bushings to Order?

I'm trying to get rid of some side-to-side movement and sloppiness in my automatic shifter on my '69 Mach 1.  I've put new bushings in a '65-66 Mustang automatic shifter, but I was thinking those were different from the one in my '69.  The sloppiness seems to be in the shifter handle itself, as the shifter moves a good bit from left to right.  It doesn't seem to be a problem with the linkage.  I've looked online at the various bushings and rebuild kits available, but I'm still pretty confused as to what I should order.  So far, I've found:

The same AT shifter bushings were use from 64 thru 73. The Ford p/n is C0AA-7A133-C but repros are available. Try NPD 7A133-1, $1.99 ea (you do need two).

Bushings (the middle picture) is what your looking for (others are manual trans stuff)


Remove shifter bezel,

Remove nut above tail shaft  at the shifter housing (from under the car)

Pull shifter arm out of housing

Replace bushings and reassemble
