Topic: Early 1967 GT350 Tail light Assembly

I am looking to replace my #89 tail light assembly with an original. How late in the number sequence can I go to locate a correct assembly? What features will distinguish my early set from later design changed ones.

Not sure what is wrong or incorrect with your taillights. Looks like a couple of wire repairs (connecting back up lights), body color in the wrong places but nothing really big that I notice

Thanks Jeff. Do you know if the tail light panel has a mat finish on the back? Does this feature differentiate an earlier car from a later one?  This assembly comes from a low #400's Shelby.

Early cars don't have the lip (up under the trunk lid mostly) up at the top edge where they are riveted to the taillight panel  (something they added later to work better) and the very early cars have, what is referred to as a flat taillight panel.    When you purchased your car your car had the version without the upper lip - correct for your car's time period

All of the tail panels had the fiberglass weave mat finish. What differentiate an earlier car tail from a later one is the physical design of the tail panel . The flat tail panels were used well past #900.

Besides some R+R on the Shelby taillight harness you need to replace the 65/66 rubber backed plaid trunkmat with one of the repro good fiber backed plaid mats and then sew the contours for a more assemblyline look .
