Front Windshield
« on: January 04, 2010, 05:22:19 PM »
Question,  is the front Windshield suppose to have the Carlite logo script of block letters?  Mine is currently block letters but has a date of 4E which is like months before my car was even built....The rest of my windows are script with dates of either 4J or 4K which is around the built date of my car (10/29/64, San Jose).  Is this windshield possibly a replacement done by the first or second owner?

Thanks
Chris

The windshield on a '65 should have an oval Carlite script logo.  Your windshield has been replaced.  The date is not decade-specific, so it could be 1974, 1984, 1994 or 2004.

I agree with Charles that your windsheold has been replaced.
When I had P S Auto Glass etch my new reproduction windsheild they asked which way the logo was facing-reading left to right or right to left viewed from the inside or the outside.....luckily I had my original windsheild still in the car (but broken) to go by-If you are concerned about this if/when you deceide to replace your windsheild I can certainly highly recomend P S to you, they did a GREAT job on my windsheild and door glass. they may know which way your logo should face......
