Pretty sure that they are blue anodized.

3 of the 4 vacuum motors are mostly blue on one side with a misting of blue on the other. The forth one (a/c-heat motor) in silver. I'm looking for a spray color and spray technique to restore their original look. The diaphragms seem to be ok.

You may be able to produce a usable finish using layup dye that is available in spray form. Would expect that you would need a clear protective film to protect the delicate finish the dye would produce by it's self

Haven't tried this, but Duplicolor and others have translucent paints that mimic anodized surfaces:

https://www.amazon.com/Dupli-Color-MC201-Metal-Anodized-Color/dp/B00099BJUC/ref=sr_1_3/139-4633265-6341951?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1493726846&sr=1-3&keywords=translucent+paint
I will have to try that . From first impression it looks like it might hold up better then the lay out dye. Did you notice this in the description . "This item is not for sale in Catalina Island " what odd obscure reference.  :o

Thought I would post a couple of pictures of the 69 pods. The arms (as well as the pods) and arm extensions are blue also. At this time I don't think the finish is anodizing but will see if I can locate an original (unless I threw them all out) to test

Will split the vacuum pod discussion from the heater box discussion since it covers 67-70
