Want to start by saying that decoding any buck tag completely is difficult (using the online info) since different years and plants used different coding and layout, so "one size fits all" decoders may lead you down the wrong path
Would suggest getting Kevin Marti's "The Mustang and Cougar Tagbook" for more complete information on the subject
I have a question about a Dearborn May 1970 Boss 2 Buck tag (it is a Reproduction since the original was missing)
----------------------------------------------------
The Vin# 63A D 342
BA
BTRAC RS
W-2 (stamped diagonally)
----------------------------------------------------
I have looked through the archives and still have the following questions:
1. The car did come with Power steering (per the marti report and other original docs). Should the buck tag also have "PS"?
Don't believe that was notated/stamped in 70 Dearborn tags like they were on some other examples
2. Since all Boss2's came with Power Brakes and Dual Exhaust, should PB and DE also be on the tag?
Since the workers needed specific instructions (they didn't know the bare unibody was going to be a Boss
they needed the codes to know what to do.
3. Does the 342 mean that the body was built in welding bay 342?
Believe that is the first rotation number
4. What does W-2 mean? - Related to some inspection I believe
