Whats this hole for?
« on: September 28, 2012, 02:05:53 PM »

Am I missing some type of clip or was it supposed to be something from the interior?
Ive checked all my pictures from the car and I dont see anything that was attached there but I dont have a good enough shot to be sure nothing came through from the inside.

Believe that hole is the mounting hole for the V8 throttle linkage mounting. Have seen them with a small daub of dum- dum over and a shot of sealant

+1.

Here's a pic of V8 bell crank linkage attachment that has 3 mounting screws, instead of the 2 on the 6 cyl.

Included in the pic is a gray plastic cap on the sharp end of the screw above the hole where the linkage passes through the firewall.  This cap was discussed in another recent thread.

Also in this pic I noticed what appears to be an open hole almost directly above the upper right bell crank attachment screw, and another below the bell crank firewall gasket.  The car is at the painter's so will check the next time I'm there. John
