Disc brake 1969 spindle part number
« on: September 12, 2012, 10:58:21 PM »
Restoring a1969 mustang that is a roller at this point. I took off the RH front disc. brake spindle and am ready to detail it but the part number looks wrong  Here are the numbers on the spindle:

                        59
                 FoMoCo script
                      D5DW
                       3107
                         AA
What do I have here? I want to make sure that the 1969 tie rods and ball joints work on this before ordering them. Is this a OEM 69 disc spindle?

No, it is Not an OEM spindle for 1969. I'm not familiar with the Granada-Monarch-Versailles disc brake part numbers but it sounds like your car has had the GVM disc brake conversion.

The Factory Disc Brake Spindle will have a C8OA- part number.

It is a wrong engineering number . You have a replacement part and not a OEM 69 spindle. You will have ether the C8 marked ones or DO marked ones depending on early or late.

A couple of pictures to illustrate - sorry the C8 one isn't the best - just what I had on hand)

C8 version (referred to as the small suspension)

KKX version (referred to as the large suspension- first version)

D0 version (referred to as the large suspension- second version)
