69 brake/clutch pedal support
« on: February 09, 2016, 07:47:11 AM »
I need some help identifying a bracket that's attached to the pedal support. For a while I've been searching for a support for my 69, manual trans, power disc brake M1. Some of the supports I've found have this upside down "U" shaped bracket and some do not. Can someone tell me what this bracket is for?

I think they should all have that bracket and there is a bolt that goes through that into the steering column.

Rusty I just took a look at the set up on my car and it does have the 'U ' shaped bracket.  Jim is correct about the steering column.  Seems to be a bracket coming from the column, meets up with the ' U ' and the two are bolted together and seems to serve as some sort of stabilizer.  Brian

Right on. Thanks for the info. I haven't been able to find a repro of that bracket anywhere yet so I'll make sure the the support I get already has it.

Kinda guessing here, but it looks like it might be part of the breakaway for the collapsible column. Provides enough support to keep the column from moving forward under normal use, but would bend out of the way as the column moves forward in a collision.
