Thanks Bob, I not only get to keep my correct finished clip but "somebody" owes me a beer. I maintained that the clip was spring steel and should be black oxide (dark finished) as zinc plating could cause the clip to break from the effects of hydrogen embrittlement.
As to the 65 and 64 1/2 hardware, the 65 Engine Assembly Manual (AM0155 pg2 & 3) shows both screws as clear zinc. The clips can't be determined without their source documents.
What this also means is that the parts houses have been selling the incorrect part for 1966 (hint NPD, Virginia Classic, etc).
