Trunk Mat
« on: August 17, 2012, 08:21:17 PM »
The reproduction plaid trunk mat I bought came with little pieces to go over the cut outs for the braces that the bumper bolts to.  I assume they were actually not used originally?  I also read I need to cut the mat off at the edge of the gas tank on the passenger side.  How far forward does this cut extend?  What color thread was used for the stitching?  I know nothing about they types of thread but pictures I've seen seems to show a heavy thread.  Is there a thread size I should get?

Here is a picture of a SJ car for stitching. I do not believe that the original mats were cut for the bumper braces. Marty

Bad to assume that a reproduction is correct - in this cars those cut outs at the bumper braces were not there originally

Black thread - not real heavy just strong

hmm.  That is not good.  Is there a reproduction that doesn't have the cut outs?

Believe so  since I've seen them at shows on cars we were judging- but haven't shopped to figure out who has them :(
