Ford Tooling '69 Hood Molding--Anyone Buy One?
« on: July 22, 2012, 11:56:50 AM »
I've gone through two of the cheaper Corvex hood moldings on my '69 Mach 1, and I'm just not happy with the way they fit.  I've been watching NPD's website for months, noticing that they list a Ford Tooling '69 hood molding.  I watched the listing for months, noting that this was a new reproduction due in April/May 2012.  I apparently missed out on the first batch NPD got in, and now they're sold out again and are listed as "unavailable."  Here's NPD's listing for the part:

Did anyone get one of these hood moldings?  I was just wondering how the fit and quality was, and whether I should keep fighting this ill-fitting Corvex molding or hold out for a shot at one of the Ford Tooling parts.  Thanks for any information and help!

I bought one from California Mustang. I did not fit very good and the weld on the ends had been grond with a coarse grinder, looked like crap. Contacted them and other suppliers seems there is only one place reproducing them and that is what you get. Think I have a line on some one that can smooth out and polish my original one.

Good, I don't feel quite so bad about missing out on buying one then.  I'll keep looking for a decent original to have re-done.
