Exterior Colour & Interior Trim Availability 1966
« on: July 07, 2012, 10:42:14 AM »
I was wondering about the Mustang Exterior Colour & Interior Trim Availability Chart - the attached data plate shows External colour 5 "Signal Fare" and the internal trim is F6 "Parchment with Black appointments" but looking at the chart this wasn't an available option? Could this have been a special order because I'm pretty sure this is the original data plate. Thanks if anyone can help with this.

I agree it looks like an original warranty plate.  Would not worry too much that it isn't in a chart.  Most times these charts are created before a production year actually starts, much like owner's manuals or shop manuals, so you have to take them with a grain of salt.  I don't think your car was a special order.  That color combo would look really nice.

Agree with Charles (go figure ;)   in general you can ignore the charts and published documents with this like this - please understand that normally in those days people ordered their cars and waited for them to be built rather than today's practice of purchasing the cars from dealer stock or having them transferred from another location. This meant that (unlike to day) you could pretty much customize the car and get it like you wanted it - unless it was a limited production car (Shelby's, Boss's .....) where you were often told - take it our they couldn't promise they could get another.

So my 1966 GT painted the T code Candy Apple Red should not have white GT stripes?  Crap.  They look so good with the white vinyl roof too.

Don't see that in the thread = might be drawing a conclusion not supported here ;)

The original poster has an attachment that shows what colors go with what colors.  I've also attached the file.

Candy Apple Red should have black GT stripes.
