Topic: 1964-1/2 Interior Color Code Project

The 1966 Interior Color Code Project has worked out well, and is about done. So I thought we might extend the same line of research to other years. And I thought we might begin at the beginning.

After looking at multiple sources I've compiled the following list. Most lists don't distinguish between 1964-1/2 colors and 1965 colors. They just call them all 1965. After thumbing through the Mustang Production Guide, it seems that the interior color palette was smaller at the beginning and was expanded in August of 1964 when the 1965 model year really got underway.

Other information would suggest that some interiors that were available beginning in the 1966 model year, were actually being introduced at the end of the 1965 model year. This was done with exterior paint colors as well; a process Ford called "pull ahead"; although the interior color scheme didn't receive a special indicator to alert anyone that is was actually a 1966 interior.

The color codes I've listed as 1964-1/2 seem to be used in 1965 as well, but the 4,5, and 8 series colors were drastically reduced in production. Just a few sparse entries in the Mustang Production Guide.

Also, the color codes in red are not listed in the 1965 Master Parts Catalog, although they do show up in other references.

Attached are a couple of pictures out of the 1964 Color and Trim Book.

According to these pages (provided by Veronica Sczbecki) the interior trim selections were limited to:

42,45,46,49
56
82, 85, 86,89

However, the Mustang Production Guide also has interior trim codes listed for:

22,25,26
32, 35, 36

Can anyone confirm that these latter codes were also available for 1964.5?
