Front Fender Fit
« on: May 05, 2012, 04:05:23 PM »
My restorer says there were cars from the factory where the front fenders did not cover the square slots cut in the inner fenders, such as above the battery and windshield washer reservior. Is this a correct statement?

Normally the areas are covered, but I'm sure some cars might have shown a little space.

If you have replaced the inners with reproductions those will often show through more than originals since they are not always stamped in the same original locations and some are larger than originals

Just a possibility

Charles, from a judging standpoint, how is this looked at?  If I understood you correctly, they possibly could have come from the factory that way.

If it's excessive, I'm sure it would be a deduction.  If you have the option to minimize it now, I would make it as close as possible, if not covered completely by the fenders.
