Oil filter for unrestored 67 289 Mustang
« on: March 29, 2012, 10:07:03 PM »
I currently have a painted blue modern FL-1 oil filter on my unrestored 67 289 Mustang, that I have showed once in the unrestored class. I thought I would make it closer to how the Mustang came from Ford when my grandparents bought it new, so I just purchased a reproduction embossed Autolite double crimped white oil filter.

I want to confirm that I should paint it.

Will it be best to paint it blue, like the engine block? or leave it white?
Am I correct that the reproduction oil filter better matches what came on my 67 Mustang? If it isn't, I will save it for something else.

Of those two choices I would install the repo painted engine color. Though anything new and fresh will stand out in an unrestored engine compartment

If I were judging it as a unrestored I would expect to see the white unpainted as it is a car that has been used to some degree. A restored car would be presented as factory delivered and would have the blue painted. A white Ford original would be better. Marty
