67-68 rocker mold clips
« on: January 28, 2012, 02:16:39 AM »
Getting to the end on the S GT coupe. Went to install the clips and see they are not symmetric.

One end has a long flat, about 1", the other a kink about 1/"8 in from the end...

Which way is up? Quick sketch... left or right?

It funny Richard, I'v probably put those on 20 times and everytime I forget which end is up. I keep asking Charles because he always remembers. If you look at the mounting holes, one is round and the other oval. My memory which is suspect tells me oval goes on the top.

Tim... thanks..

I was looking at my OEM, kinda grotty... and then pulled out the repros.  I then noticed the oval, which I assume is the lower, as using the round above keeps the upper edge in a better line...

So I assumed round at top aligns upper edge better....

... I think....

All mine are like the one on the right. All have the Ford # on them and I have no reeason to think they've ever been replaced.

Pretty sure the oval hole goes on the bottom, when mounted.

I bought some NOS C86310154-A and C88610155-A rocker moldings in a kit that was a service replacement for 69 Mustangs.  The molding and clips are the same as the C7 part #s. In the instruction sheet it shows the oval hole at the bottom. I thought it was interesting the Ford was recommending the use of the 67-68 style on the 69 model. Would be something to see on show up at a show that way. Marty

I will have to check that spacing against one of my cars. Remember that drawing was working around the 69 clip locations. No not drill any more holes till I can check! Marty

I measured starting from the rear of the rocker 2 7/16 to the most rear holes the rest in the rocker were evenly spaced at 12 5/8. Marty

Yeah, the sapcing was just a comment.  I used the OEM holes on the rocker and measured off my convertible for the ones the shop filled on the front fender....
