Heater Hose Strap Start Date
« on: May 11, 2011, 12:13:39 PM »
After reading the various posts in the archives on heater hose straps, I got the impression from some of the comments that the strap was not necessarily installed at the factory from the beginning. Does anyone know if the HH strap was there from day one or was it phased in and if so when.

Thanks,

Greg

Greg, I am certainly no authority on these, but I know that only the Hipo cars and 6 cylinder cars were the only ones that got the straps, the 2v and 4v(standard) 289s did not get these straps........they may well have been an after thought on Fords part but I can't confirm that.

Sorry for bring this topic back up but didn't know if this was confirmed or not.  Also, what is everyone using to reproduce the heater hose strap?  Would using an old radiator hose suffice?

The one off one of my cars was made from a bias tire type materal...Also have a guy on the Hipo forum post a picture of an original that was made of what looked like a cut up raidator hose.
