im restoreing a 68 shelby gt500. there is white paint on face of rear drums, was told this was factory done? im restoring this to concours so really could use input. also wondering if 69 parts were concours for this year? thanks
You were misinformed on the the white paint being factory applied on the face of the brake drums . The white paint was most likely past owner applied. They would be cast iron gray typically or possibly given a brushed on black out treatment . All 68's came with hubcaps from the factory . The hubcap cars did not typically receive a black out treatment like the deluxe wheel equipped cars . FYI only about 5 cars are documented from the factory (very early production) to have received the 67 style tenspoke deluxe wheels and they were all sent overseas. I am not quite sure what you mean about if 69 parts are concours for 68. Some 68 parts were also used on 69 cars . If that is what you mean you would have to ask that question on the specific item or items in question to get a appropriate answer. I hope this helps . Bob
