Dual Accent Paint Stripes???
« on: September 10, 2012, 11:57:09 AM »
Looking to buy a 1970 Mach 1 and the Marti lists Dual Accent Paint Stripes but there are no stripes on the car.  The Peter Sessler book lists it as a $13 option but I have never seen one.  What and where were they?  Anybody have a picture??  Thanks

Here is what I found looking through some of my pictures

Appears that they were installed with a gap at the headlight bucket to fender gap while other spots I'm unsure of (see below) as of this posting

Wrap at end my indicate that this example has been replaced, repaired or a different practice. Will need more originial examples

Just happened to find another example today in a local yard - appears that the white example shown above (will mark as in question) may have been replaced/repaired at some point in the past

As you can see on this car the stripe stops at every gap - and the close up shows a odd finish at the end of the stripe that just not look non factory (too odd IMHO for a paint shop to do) Kind of a "T" end to each stripe

Just sharing what I found

Passenger quarter panel to door gap

Passenger door rear edge

Passenger door leading edge

The ends - Drivers door to quarter panel
