Seat belts for 68
« on: July 20, 2011, 07:01:15 PM »
As I was trying to get the seat belts ready found out that there were Hamill and Robins Jr belts. Seems to me that the Robbins were for San Jose and Hamill for Dearborn and metuchen cars but maybe some of you can check. Also see that Robbins belts have tags glued and sewn while Hamill tags are only sewn.

Have had Plenty of ROBBINS Belts off of Dearborn Cars and San Jose. All of the 68-69 Belts we have had in the past few years were Robbins Jr. Mostly have noticed Hamill on 1970-Later cars. I do not think it was a Plant Difference, although NJ cars are few and far between here.  I would lean more towards them each making certain types of belts, but can not positively verify that. I hope this helps at least a little bit. Andrew.

I have my original set which is hamill and tags correspond with build date 25 68 and 27 68.  I have another set of hamills with 46 67 date.  Picked up two nicer belts out of Washington but with Robbins tags so I may have assumed incorrectly that Robbins was a west coast supplier. I have a single blue belt out of a NJ built coupe but tag is not readable. That tag still looks different but it came out of a mid year built 68. Let's see what others on the site find.

Rich I am cleaning up the 68 fastback for the Des Moines MCA national show. It was built in Dearborn the same day as your convertible and I noticed that it has Robbins belts coded 2568 X8RA. Hope that helps. Marty

Marty, very intresting find. Both our cars built the same day st Dearborn. Your fastback has Robbins and I have Hamill. Both have the same week code of 25 68. That code number you gave was off a front belt? Mine are mounted in the car so I don't have the code handy as I am out of town. Look forward to seeing your car and meeting you. What day will you get to Des moines? Can't figure out when to get their as I only have one day to spend there and one for travel.

That was off the upper shoulder belt. We plan to arrive late Thursday afternoon. I would come on Saturday, that's when there will be the most cars but that is my busiest day.

I will probably arrive on Friday evening to try to meet some of the people off the forum. And see some of the cars coming in. Then I can spend Sat at the show and leave in the late afternoon/ evening.
