While tearing down my engine, I've found it to be in excellent condition with less than 10 thousandths of wear in the bores. Not bad for 117K on 1960s oil and fuel... question is this: The engine is dated 5E25 for assembly. block is 5e15. One of the heads is dated in may. It was either 5e21 or 5e13 (They're at the shop right now). The other head has the date stamping in a little different spot and it is 5c21 or 5c13. Would that head have sat around for two months waiting to find my engine, or did someone swap it out? It would seem to me that the odds of swapping it out with one from 2 months earlier is unlikely, but if I should get a new head, I need to know before the shop rebuilds it.
I'm headed up there now with the block and I will get the exact casting numbers. I'm sure one of them is from March of 65 though. Thanks for the feedback!
